A Career in the Wig Industry

July 23, 2024

Leah was born to be in the wig industry, literally. She is the daughter of Paula Bisk, founder of Paula’s Wig Boutique, one of the premier wig stores in Miami, Florida, Toronto, and NYC. Some of her earliest memories are of growing up in her mom’s Toronto wig boutique. Before she could even walk, Leah was a regular accessory at the wig shop, being rocked in her car seat by loving wigmakers who were only too happy to have an adorable baby to distract them from an otherwise tedious job.

As a child, Leah spent hours trying on wigs, organising the store, pretending to style and sell, and even reprimanding employees when they didn’t pick up the phone quickly enough! She developed an eye for balance and style and was able to recognise the difference between natural hair wigs and synthetic wigs before entering grade school. There was no question what she wanted to do when she grew up, and she started working professionally in her mom‘s store during high school.

After graduation, her interest in expanding the family business of natural hair wigs and hairpieces piqued. When she saw the opportunity, she pushed for Paula’s Wig Boutique to expand into the USA. It became apparent to her that there was a huge lack of bespoke wig stores in Miami, Florida, and she became instrumental in launching Paula’s Wig Boutique Miami. Leah is currently married and growing her own family while she continues to help grow the family business in Florida and beyond.
